PRESS RELEASE: Over 40s Success

Cumberland FA Over 40s Football event was a great success, with four teams from across the county participating in this first ever event.

On Sunday 30th November Cumberland FA hosted their first ever over 40s football event at Netherhall Community Sports Centre, Maryport.

Four teams from across the county (Bush Wanderers FC, Westfield FC, Howard Rangers FC and Hall Park FC) participated in a round robin fixture programme, which saw each team play each other in three twenty minute 11v11 games.

The games were very close and decided by the odd goal. All games were competitive and played in a fantastic spirit, with the emphasis very much on all players enjoying playing the game against others of a similar age and ability.

The overall winners on the day were Howard Rangers FC, who received a £100 Nike voucher from Cumberland FA.

Throughout the day Cumberland FA consulted with all players around the future need and development of Over 40s Football within the County. Following this feedback, Cumberland FA will be hosting further Over 40 Football events throughout February and March 2015 leading up to the Cumbria Veterans League commencing.

Cumberland FA is seeking for further Over 40 teams to participate in future events from across Cumberland. If you are interested in entering a team or would like further information; please contact Football Development Officer Paul Jennings on 01900 872310 Option 1 or email Paul.Jennings@CumberlandFA.com
