"Since December 2012, we have been working with Carlisle City Council and Carlisle Leisure to plan a facility at the Sheepmount which would enable the club's senior team to move forward in the football pyramid. Earlier this week, we were informed by the City Council that the necessary lease over our pitch cannot be granted. The main reason given for this decision is that the Sheepmount is defined as a "strategic site"within the Playing Pitch strategy and, as such, leases to clubs are not considered to be appropriate. Carlisle City FC contributed to the strategy during meetings with the consultants KKP but this would appear to be a worthless effort.
We are now considering our position, given the best part of two years of wasted efforts. The City Council have offered to discuss with us the possibility of alternative sites, and it could well be that the club will need to move from the Sheepmount to be able to make any progress. " STATEMENT ENDS
