The weather problems seem to affect the football more and more each year. Not sure what the answer is. No doubt the suggestion of a summer season may come forward again- what would people think of that?
No brainier for me - weather where we live is awful . If you want to play football matches through Dec - March , then it's madness not to have a contingency plan.
If it means extending the season then so be it.
Better still , change the duration of the season as you say , Brian.
Play through Spring and early summer. It will change the whole dynamics of the season - better pitches is condusive to better football , more enjoyable experience all round.
Before anyone says this would effect minority sports, you can still play cricket , tennis and golf in different formats and its about choice. Or we can go through all the frustration and disappointment again next season
GAME CALLED OFF LESS THAN AN HOUR BEFORE KICK OFF AND OUR OPPONENTS FROM KENDALL WERE AT JUNCTION 42 WHEN I LET THEM KNOW BUT A BOYS GAME WENT AHEAD ON OUR FIRST TEAM PITCH BETWEN TWO LOCAL TEAMS NIETHER FROM CITY AND BOTH WHERE COUNTY CUP GAMES. WHO PRIORITES THESE GAMES? OR IS IT BOYS GAMES BEFORE GIRLS? CAN ANYONE SHED ANY LIGHT ON THIS PLEASE. RODDY
It did look odd yesterday when Edenvale v Abbeytown ko 2.00 went ahead but City v Kendal ko 1.30 (with Kendal virtually here) was cancelled- a strange set of priorities.
As an aside the Edenvale- Abbeytown under 16s was a cracking game- 6-4 to Edenvale after extra time- great credit to both teams
