On Longhorne Site - start of U12 season postponed until 29th September, presume it must be lack of 3/4 size pitches? Wondering if we will get to play any football this season
I have my pitch booked at the Sheepmount up until the end of the fixtures published on the longhorne site.
Not enough refs is a joke, my son qualified the start of last season, never once had a phone call offering him a game ...... not once all season, the only time he got a game was when his team manager found out about games where they were short of officials or via the CUFC girls academy. Funnily enough no-one has been in touch for any games at the start of this season either!!
Cannot understand why things have not been sorted in time for the start of the season, we really cannot afford to be missing games at this time of year, we will lose enough during the winter as it is (especially on the sheepmount).
Yes, very frustring Brian, a shame for the boys most of all who just want to crack on and have a game of football.
its a bit hypocritical postponing the u12s because the league isnt organised yet but older teams having to forfeit their first game because their team wasnt registered in time.
They have had 4 months to sort all this out ! and the best of it is, really that its no different from last season , we all played nine a side on 3/4 size pitches so its not like there is any thing different other than refs ! so if theres a shortage then just ask coaches to ref instead and get the season under way . What i cant understand is that we cant play until the 29th of Sep because of a lack of various facilities , however we are expected to play county cup matches on the 22nd of sept ...... so can some one educate me as to how that is possible but the league games are not , bearing in mind all teams are drawn locally for first round so it will be like a league game anyway.
having ran a team for over ten years up until two years ago, i fully understand managers and players frustrations at how the league commitee seem intent on making running a team difficult, its hard enough without them, but as a parent of two kids who still play in the league this latest farcical start to the season has really taken the biscuit, my son who plays in the u18s cant play as the team hes due play werent registered in time and ive just found out my daughters game who plays u14s wont be on as theres no goals!, i thought the youth league was there to get kids playing football! really dont get why the forms had to be in so early as most teams have summer breaks etc.
