This was brought up at the league meeting last night with some stating that you should go back to the top of the fixture list and some saying you should work from the bottom up. I personally agree with Raymond in that if you work back up you will get to play the teams that you missed out playing due to the bad weather. This caused a heated discussion with suggestions that if clubs were not happy then someome else could do the fixtures!!!!!! The upshot is that AFTER THIS WEEKEND the league will START AGAIN FOR EVERYONE and they will put the fixture list on the web site today so, like many others, I will not have enough games left on my season ticket!
There's no reasoning with this commitee..they are totally blinkered in whatever the problem is. A simple little problem ends up major, not going to be happy until they have everyone arguing with each other. They have already ruined the u14 and u16 leagues by making it start from scratch after some teams had played at least 8 matches already. Now its time to ruin the younger age groups too... i know its all done voluntry and these people give up their time but for goodness sake why wont they listen to reason at these meetings...whenever an issue is challenged at a meeting the shutters go up with a take it or leave it attitude...how on earth are we supposed to improve situations for the teams if your spoken down at every opportunity.
IF YOU HAVE FINISHED YOUR FIXTURES, FIRSTLY COMPLETE FIXTURES YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED (CATCHUP) THEN PLEASE REVERSE THE EXISTING FIXTURES AND PLAY THEM FROM THE START OF THE ORIGINAL FIXTURES FIRST. Mike
In connection to the reverse fixtures i to agree with
Raymond, we to will play the same teams twice and not meet other teams at all !! as its pointed out they do work hard and it is voluntary however they are very keen to pass the point its your rules not ours ,we are as a committee are just here to up keep them, however when any body tries to approach them with situations like this , there is a certain type of stand off resulting in the managers not getting any great say in the issue.
Here we go again!! i have copyed and pasted this comment from the league website.
Before and after the meeting, I heard from some junior team managers that the stronger junior team managers were looking for easy games instead of playing the unplayed blocks of fixtures first. That is one reason for starting again from scratch plus it is easier for all to understand.
i was at this meeting when this was supposed to have been said.
1st these comments came from Jim McCracken, (league Secretary)
2nd I stood up and totally disagreed with the backing from the Dalston manager, my views were that when you dont have fixed fixtures and you are trying to organise catch up games, it becomes a bit of a nightmare for stonger teams, firstly no one rings you to organise games and when you ring them they have already got games arranged,
why they didnt just start from the back and work to the front is beyond me would of saved a lot of work for them aswel
any manger who wants to arrange games against weaker teams so they can beat them by great margins seeing kids 7/8 years old really disappointed should pack in.
this is not aimed at anyone in particular as i think its a thankless job the league do and should maybe get a bit more praise, there is not many people would give up there time and effort as they do.
Rant over!!!!!
