One-step penalties
Permalink

In the shoot-out last night, there were penalties taken with just a one-step run up. I wonder what the thinking is behind this. As it happens, Mensah took a very poor penalty. I know you can have a huge run-up and blast it over the bar but it's surely more likely to be effective than just one step?

1 step is plenty...keepers cant move so why should penalty taker be allowed to run a mile to hit it !!smile

The Ghana keeper was coming forward a long way off his line- but still not saving them!

I can remember seeing this report in the press a few weeks ago. So, the optimum penalty is struck high into a corner, and travelling between 25-29 metres per second. Why don't they all take them like that?  biggrin
