There'll be some aching limbs tomorrow after several ex-City players turned out in the fund-raiser at Gretna FC today. Representing Gretna were the three Armstrong brothers plus Gary Milne (who missed a couple of sitters).
In the Carlisle colours was Mark Eagling, who scored a couple of goals, in their 6-2 win.
Stephen Skinner appeared to limp away with an injury.
Sorry Brian but you missed another ex Gretna player who appeared on Sunday in the position he made his own for 2 seasons ! Our very own Mark Wilson seated 3rd from left in dugout
Mad John what you on about, have you not been taking your tablets. I couldn't go on Sunday as the sponsored walk is only a couple of weeks away and I didn't want to risk getting injured, plus I had ran out of WD40.
Saying that the Gretna team can't have been up to much if they let Eddie Izzard score twice against them and that's after running 40 marathons. It wouldn't have happened if Jack Nicholson had been playing at left back that's for sure.
The three Armstrongs played, you might as well have asked the 3 degrees to play, at least you would have seen more movement. I seen the fat cat and westy turned out for CUFC. Rumour has it Milly went for an over head kick, when he hit the floor he ended up de-railing the the Annan to Carlisle train Westy must have played with Hughie McIlmoyle.
Ask Mr McCartney who warmed the bench when I was there, it wasn't me my daft friend, but it was another current City committee man.
Milly was actually star man in my book. He played centre-forward in the first half and showed nice touches, before going in goals when Tony Elliott was injured.
Davie Irons still looks very fit, more so than most of the "younger" ones on show.
