Possible Club?

Hi guys,

I currently live in the USA where i am studying for a degree in sports management, while there i am currently playing semi- pro football for the dayton flyers. I am also captain of the university team.
For my studies i am having a year in the UK where i will be based near hexham in connection with Newcastle university and the university of Cumbria. I am looking to keep up my fitness during this year and keep playing competitive football. I am looking to play in the carlisle area and having a search of clubs in the area u are the first that i have come across.  I was just wondering over the possibilty of sigining on for the club or if not could you recommend other possible local clubs.

For more information, i am striker and if you would like to see my CV then that can be attained.

Many thanks,
Martin

Given that Martin is in the States and in unfamiliar (by his own admission) of the leagues in England, i think that last posting needs clarification.

Carlisle United are the most successful team in Carlisle and are a proffesional team.

At present Gillford Park are the next team down in the league pyramid and are there on merit but there other Carlisle based clubs not too far away from them, Carlisle City included.

BTW - The FACT Martin found City 1st on his internet search speaks volumes and is testament to what Brian Hall is doing for City (in case you are the anonymous who authored the other posting)

Hi Martin,

Please accept our appology for anonymous requests. We do try and stop them. Carlisle City have been the fulcrum of the local football scene for 30-40 years and have been responsible for the development of many locally produced semi and professional footballers.
Many clubs have been formed of latter years, and have had early success as should be expected but City have proved their wealth in experience in their support and development of ages 7 - 35.

As per Brians request.

Regards

Warren Steele

Mr A, as we ( Carlisle City ) are so well down your pecking order as regards success or ambition, and probably many more things in your mind. Why don't you go and post on their message boards. I mean man, why bother with us low lifes. Go and spread your news and views with the elite of the other Carlisle football clubs. I am sure everyone at Carlisle City FC wishes Gilford Park, Northbank, Harraby Catholic, Carlisle Amateurs etc all the best for the coming season. We will just go about our business in a dignified manner and leave the name calling and all that stuff to the experts.

Mr Anonymous should apply for the job at Renucci's Chip Shop they are looking for some big chips and he has a number on his shoulder.
As you may know i started as a players at Carlisle City 1975 and have ran all Senior sides as Manager and my advice to you his Carlisle City are the only senior side both first team and reserves side to have competed in leagues since 1975.
All the other Senior sides have dropped out of Leagues in one way or another whilst City have remained stable. Why because we have a great committee and have never run before we could walk.
Carlisle City think only about their Club and we are not in their to think about other senior clubs in the area. We only think about them if we are about to play them in Senior competitions.
We wish all the Clubs well in the forthcoming season and we are not in there to compete with them we only have Harraby Catholic in the Alliance and Carlisle AFC in the County League but they are only four games in a hectic season.
Wake up in another 34years thats how long we have been going and see if you are still frying those Chip!!!!!!!

If the guy wants to know about other clubs stop bickering and tell him...

Carlisle United play in League One, but as a professional team you'd have to be pretty special to play for them.

Gillford Park are the next team in the league structure. They play in the Northern League, six levels beneath Carlisle United.

Carlisle City and Harraby Catholic Club are the next teams. They play in the Northern Alliance Premier Division, a level beneath Gillford Park.

Northbank Carlisle are the next team. They play in the Northern Alliance First Division, a level beneath Carlisle City and Harraby Catholic Club.

Then, approximately two levels beneath Northbank Carlisle* comes the Cumberland County League, in which many teams including Carlisle Amateurs compete.

If you're staying near Hexham, another couple of clubs to consider are Wark who also play in the Northern Alliance Premier Division, and Hexham who play a level beneath Northbank Carlisle in the Northern Alliance Second Division.

If any of these clubs don't have websites, contact details can be found on the respective league websites.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Waza mate......... i am not sure what the anger was about in any case, I wasnt having ago at this anonymous or any other anonymous for that matter.

I merely said IF he (she) was the anonymous who was asking about Brian then we at City are happy with what he was doing and should be left alone (or words to that
effect) or that was my intention.

If he isn't, then thats fair enough but why doesnt he start using a unique user name to identify himself, that way it would avoid confusion and any misunderstandings across the posts.

I do not understand why Carlisle City suddenly think they are a big club!! If you look at what City actually have it is nothing, whether it be money, a base, or optimism then they dont have any.
You are the 3rd biggest club in Carlisle behind: CUFC, Gilford and Northbank.
Just taking a look at the signings you have made in the summer, they will not take you forward compared to the signings that Gilford and even Carlisle Ams have made.
Although you have a good family run club, competent youth coaches and with Brian the best website/ organiser/ photographer in the town, you will never be as big as Northbank have been and Gilford are.

Back to the original topic on this thread- I'm sure Martin won't mind me reporting that he has now got the opportunity of a trial with a club in Hartlepool.

We wish him well with that.

Thats all well and good Brian. But where do this team from Hartlepool stand in the pecking order? Are they the No 1 amateur team there or are there 3 better teams above them? If so will that make them the 3rd best team in Hartlepool?biggrin Mr good counter will maybe let me know!

Mr A i have finally seen you say something which is of some consequense. "I don't understand".
All the Amateur Clubs have followed Carlisle City from day one when we took local football to the next level in the Northern Alliance and in that year we finished Runners Up (ps We have done that 7 times). We won the Cup at St James Park and took the Cumberland Cup. No Club in Carlisle will ever succeed that. Gretna and Annan were still  District League sides playing City Reserves and you can look at how Gretna chased the dream and crashed and we hope Annan don't do the same.
We as a Club wished Gilford Park all the best for this season and the work they have put in is a credit to themselves and it is another step for local footballers to aspire too. Northbank are like we were twenty year ago trying to get back to what the Club had achieved before and they had set themselves high standards. Harraby Catholic are the only Carlisle Side to win the Northern Alliance and that is a big acievement in itself but all clubs know one swallow doesn't make a summer and as i said before we have been going for Thirty Four years and you can't be top dog all the time. As for Carlisle Amateurs alias St Margaret Mary's who have moved to Scotby Cricket Field. A Wooden Hut with one shower each doesn't sound like a move forward too me. If the Club has such a good side and want to show they have then apply for the Northern Alliance and then they can say they are up for playing the Major Senior sides.

city been going 34 years and still play on council land !!! says it all really
no club house use a pub for teams to go back to in town ! pay the council money to use the grounds that all the teams play on ie sheepmount!! when it does not rain.
out west we have windscales ! cleator moor celtic! whitehaven afc! with lights club houses etc.
so you may be big as a youth club/shop but lets be honest you have nothing other than many teams ticking boxes for funding!!!! ???

WAZZA all you do is post rubbish lad ! take you have nothing else to say really ! please dont be offended lads n lasses but the same old ones on here all the time post rubbish remarks and nver facts.

good luck in the ground search, club house build to generate money for the club!!
hehe

We've done well then having four senior sides and over twenty junior sides and still growing nearly as big as that chip on your shoulder or is it a Redwood by now.
All the clubs you have mentioned are West Cumberland sides who have deprived area's and have had big influences on the Cumberland FA grants. I won't bore you with trivial detail like you are boring us with but you can be sure in another 34 Carlisle City will still be around and your Redwood should have grown into a forest by then.
Remember City were originally at Gilford and the Club members decided they wanted City off and the Club belongs to the members not the footballers of Gillford Park. Life has it's little twists and turns it's ups and downs but the strong survive and we still have ambitions and who knows what is round the corner.
I know all the facts and we know who spouts the rubbish!!! and it aint Wazza

well it about time marra that you lot got some place decent to play and call home !!! to be going 34 years and no ground and you can get grants from the fa all of the city has deprived areas !!! not just out west pal.
many parents run teams to see the child play but will walk away when they stop or move on.
good to hear you have been in the county league so long supporting local football.
plenty land in carlisle and have you not got carlisle galls guy behind you or mr story ? they seem to be putting up plenty of houses etc!! can they not help you out ??
maybe you dont want to go up leagues and happy to stay in the leagues you play.
AMBITION

Mr A,

Sorry fella, no idea who you are, but if its facts yer after....

I said leard to count...read back and you will see it was a factual statement, and yes I do post lots of drivel. Its a CCFC message board, and the management and committee use it for a little banter...I presume the professionally run club to which you are associated has one???? But possibly no chat room. Otherwise youd be chatting to them....
You come on the board and deliberatly antagonise the members of the club with your fork tongue and expect a sensible reply. You are deluded.blahblah.gif

You do not know me yet you insult me.....very clever...

History is permanent at any level. FACT

Also I note another remark about parentage assistance in junior football....PLEASE!!
