City took the lead after 15min. Johno Simpson pounced on a loose back pass and cooly placed the ball over the stranded Keeper. Whitehaven came more into the game as the game became more of a physical encounter and a scrappy equalier came in the 25th minute. Upex missed a tackle out wide and allowed Whitehaven to get into the City area and the wide player crossed for the striker who scuffed his effort but it looped over Newton and into the top corner. Whitehaven were been given too much space in midfield and with 40min gone Whitehaven took the lead with a thirty yard strike which flew past the diving Newton. City changed three players at half time giving the other Keeper English his chance in goal but although playing against the wind he was rarely tested in the second half as City pressed hard for an equaliser. City went close on a number of occasions before Steven bell equalised with a brave header in the last minute. City used all there players who gave a good account of themselves.
