Reserve Team 2009

A thank you to Mike and John who helped me run the reserves - both played this season Mike Bell played six and John once. After Monday's excellent performance in Cup Final Final when we had Sixteen players available only Six were in the starting line up of the bare eleven on Saturday. We managed a 2 - 1 win at Winscale where we finished with ten men due to Chris Kelleher pulling up with hamstring problems but the win mean't we finished third after a close finish with St Margaret Mary's who had a good win at Bransty Rangers. Our Season saw us use 56 players of which 5 players only made double figure appearances. On the Goal scoring front 22 players scored with only 5 scoring 5 or more and only 1 player got into double figures.
The Reserves is different to running your own side its incorporating players who enhance other Carlisle City squads and a means of bringing on the young players as well. You do need a core of players who you rely on heavily but you have to be prepared to take the rough days with the good like Monday's Cup final and then the searching for players on the following Saturday.

Dougie, I've always thought that reserve-team manager was the hardest job at any club.

Well done for all your efforts.

Aye well done old fella, thankless task at times, but then running any team can be.

Mr Henderson's hair might start falling out, luckily he has a good head full. On the positive side at least OD doesn't have any to fall out.

We would like to congratulate Dougie and his Army of youngens and old yens (banjo, M. Bell, and the ever green John) on pipping us to third, it was a good season for us with it being our first season but yourselves getting to a final good on yas. If the league secretary does keep to his word ashamed then we hope that next season the two EAST clubs can dominate and be squaring up to each other in the Prem the season after?

Margaret Mary's have probably surprised a few people this season in the league- well done for that.
