Keepers saving penalties
Permalink

The Millwall v Peterborough game tonight saw Millwall take a penalty three times, after the keeper saved it twice. He moved just a short distance forward off his line and was penalised for it. Personally, I would support the referee in his decision but I wish they were more consistent.

I do think that keepers get away with too much at penalties, and some are moving too far off their line. Ironically, the Peterboro keeper didn't actually move that far.

Berbatov had a new twist on the penalty-take yesterday. I'm not quite sure why you hesitate in the run-up and then kick the ball the way the keeper has moved. That was a strange one.

Mr Ferguson needs to direct his ire towards Mr Berbatov a bit more than the Wembley pitch, trully shocking that penalty.

Also given that Utd should have been awarded a penalty in normal time there was no guarantee it would have been scored.

I've never seen a penalty incident be re-played as much as that one, and yet I'm still not sure it was a penalty.

I suspect Welbeck made a bit of a meal of it when he felt the defender's contact, which didn't look that strong.
