The difference between the Northern League and the Northern Alliance can be seen when you look at the numbers of games played so far. City have played 16 whilst Gillford have already played 23.

Have applied to put a senior side in the Northern Alliance, to mean possibly one more Saturday side in the area. Are there enough players around?

I see in the press last night that the County League were talking of an extension to ther season following all the postponements. Mirehouse have only played 3 league games and Frizington just 4. Why do they play so many cup competitions?

The pitches there must have remarkable drainage. Carlisle Amateurs are getting their games played and I believe the pitches are being used on a Sunday too. It's a pity all the pitches in the city don't drain as well.

I don't know how true this is. I read an article the other day that said that Alex Stepney dislocated his jaw in 1975 when he shouted at his defence so hard that it went out of place, and had to be re-set.

Tomorrow's game between City and Alnwick is off. Seemingly, there is water standing in front of the dug-outs. It seems odd that the pitch was allocated for an under 18s game last Sunday.
