The club were saddened to receive the resignation of Northern Alliance team manager Steve Bellas on Sunday morning. We respect Steve’s reasons for leaving at this point in time, and we owe him a huge debt of gratitude for taking on an onerous job and giving up many hours of his free time.
Steve took charge of his first Alliance game on 14th February 2009 with a 4-1 win at home to Murton. Ironically, his first defeat in charge was also against Murton, losing 5-1 five games later. At the end of that season, City finished 6th, and successive seasons since then have seen positions of 10th, 6th, 5th and 3rd. City were beaten finalists in the Challenge Cup last season.
For the foreseeable future, Peter Simpson and Willie Armstrong will take on the role of caretaker managers.
