The Cumberland FA and Longhorn Leagues are trying to get away from coaches refereeing mini soccer games in order to free them up to concentrate fully on the coaching and running of their teams.
To do this we need more people/parents to take on the refereeing role.
To assist the Cumberland FA are running a couple of courses on Mini Soccer Refereeing and are asking each of the Clubs with sides in the Longhorn League to put forward two candidates to attend the course.
The course is open to people aged 14+.
It will take place over 6 hours on 1 day with a follow up session lasting 3 hours on a future date.
It is likely the venue will be The Sheepmount.
The cost to the club for the two candidates will be £20, the actual cost is much higher but is being heavily subsidised by both the Longhorn League and Cumberland FA.
There will be one course on Saturday 1st March from 10am-4pm, the second course will be the following day Sunday 2nd March from 10am-4pm.
The deadline for the nomination of candidates is 5pm on 13/12 by which time the payment and forms must be provided to the League Secretary.
If there is a lot of interest the CFA have said they will consider further sessions but this is the first time the sessions will have be run so they are running with the two initially to see how it goes.
This is an excellent opportunity for parents or older siblings of the players in the mini soccer ages to get more involved.
If anyone is interested please get in touch, I have the appropriate forms for completion.
Just bringing this back to the top, as a club we need to put forward two candidates for these sessions, I would expect these to probably come from the teams playing mini soccer or maybe older junior members 14+, surely between all the people connected to the club this should not be difficult to achieve?
Thanks to those who expressed an interest in this, pleased to say we have managed to put forward two candidates for these sessions. Depending on how successful the first courses are I expect there will be more to follow. Cheers Martin
If anyone sees this and still wants to give it a go, just let us know. The same applies for the full referees course- we will be happy to support anyone through that course.
