Gillford Park had arranged to play at the Sheepmount next Saturday against Longtown in the County cup. The rules committee have now decided that the game must be played under floodlights.
We have discussed this at club level before- I think we should suggest that this rule is taken out of the County Cup- all games played on Saturdays- it is a cup for Saturday clubs.
If longtown had been drawn at home, have they got floodlights so they could play midweek or would they have to change venues or would they be allowed to play on a saturday. Maybe the cfa want this played midweek so it can be televised
Roddy, the floodlights only apply if the side with them is drawn at home. I maintain that this is unfair, and gives a real advantage to the home side, especially at this level of football.
There was a tie earlier this season, when Alston were drawn to play at Mirehouse, who have lights. The tie never took place, I presume because of the nightmare of travelling from Alston to Mirehouse on a Wednesday night.
It's a Saturday competition- the games should be on Saturdays
