Speaking to a couple of coaches from the North East, they have informed me that their junior leagues( not sure exactly which ages) have been moved from winter to Summer. The Russell Foster Youth League will run from June to November... much better for the little uns to get games in and pitches should be in better condition for them and the weather a little warmer.
Summer football would result in putting pressure on kids to decide what sports they want to play. Loads play cricket during the summer and are more likely to be away at weekends in the better weather. I think you'll find that most coaches would be reluctant as they'd end up not getting a break from football through the year.
