Cheers Brian I have just checked out the league website. They have very kindly donated a net to us, we can put behind our keeper so we have a chance of winning a point or two. What do you think? would anybody like to sponsor it for the rest of the season On a serious note if anyone knows of any boys who are eligible to play in the under 14s league this season please let me know as we are on the lookout for players who can improve our team. But they will have to be registered by January 31st. Cheers.

cant understand how a league can be changed halfway thru a season,so all the games played upto xmas have been pointless, shouldnt teams have more of a say when it comes to decisions like this!
In fairness I think its a good idea. The league have obviously looked at the results up till Christmas and decided to try and match them up more equally. We won a few games by high scores and there is no fun in that for either team, however as much as I agree with the restructuring we will struggle against some of the better teams, not complaining though. Overall I am in favour of it.
What a joke this league is.... last season teams still had games left to play at end of season but never got to play them. This season we've played them and now they count for nowt !! Surely you cant play half the season then decide its to be started again? I travel 90 miles every week to play for city u16s will my da get refunded for the fuel money he's wasted so far this season if its all counted for nowt ???
fair point brucky, speaking as someone involved with a team with a 100% record up till now i feel hard done by,all those games have been a waste, its a bit of a farce really.
The league obviously make these decisions for a reason and one would hope that these reasons are for the better for football and everyone involved HOWEVER surely there should be some sort of consultation with the very clubs and players that it effects and without whom there would not be a league in the first place. The U7 league fixtures have changed TWICE so far this season with no explanation or reason. As a manager you are just left to get on with the mess that has resulted from their decisions having to explain to parents and players why they have to go back to a club which you have already played away at. This lack in league/club communication is causing bad feeling with all which is evident from reading peoples comments - should we as a club not be making representations to the league in an attempt to address this ?
who is it that makes these decisions? Have they ever been involved in football before? U16s were unbeaten in the league won all matches and looking pretty good, now have to go back and play teams we have already beaten this season...unbelievable..
ITS AN ABSOLUTE FARCE TO SCRAP LEAGUES MIDWAY THRU A SEASON,TOTALLY UNFAIR ON ANY TEAM THAT WAS DOING WELL,TEAMS HAVING TO PLAY TEAMS AGAIN THEY HAVE ALREADY BEATEN,NO DOUBT THE LEAGUE WILL HAVE THEIR EXCUSES FOR DOING THIS AND WONT HAVE IT QUESTIONED AS THEY ARE ALWAYS RIGHT.I FOR ONE AM FEELING VERY CHEESED OFF WITH THE LEAGUE AT THE MOMENT,THEY ALWAYS CLAIM TO BE BE THE BEST RUN AND MOST ORGANISED IN THE NORTH BUT THESE DECISIONS WOULD NEVER BE MADE EVEN IN THE WORST RUN LEAGUES,THE CG LEAGUE SEEMS A JOKE RIGHT NOW!
Just to even things up a touch I am over the moon the U16 fixtures have been changed !
The way the league was set up with older teams split into two groups and then made up of younger teams meant that unfortunately not very many competitive matches were played so neither team were getting much out of it ,
Now with the top half from each league joining in one league and the lower half in another the games should be a lot closer making it more enjoyable for all concerned
Hats off to the committee for realising it wasnt quite right and for having the balls to restructure
Walks, yes the leagues were unfair and the new ones are much better but it should have been done in september at the start of the season not midway thru the season, mike obrien surely knows who the stronger teams before the season starts! all the teams do! every year there are problems with massive results, mainly caused by mixing 13s and 14s ,and the 15s and 16s.why not just have individual age groups instead of mixing them? or am i missing something?
what happens if the weathers awful throughout the winter? and games are called off like the past 2 months, last year some teams had a good few games left to play at end of season but didnt get to play them as season wasnt extended for a couple of weeks, its possible you might be able to win the league this year by playing 4 or 5 games if the same thing happens..hows that helping teams.? Leagues should have been sorted out months ago as Jay said NOT into a new year.
Some good points raised here guys and some old arguments about age groups (having U13's,U14's,U15's & U16's).
The truth is that The Longhorn Youth League have made a decision. I can see that there may be very good reasons for this decision but the fact that we don't know what they are means we can only guess what the reasons are.
If you want, we will approach the league for an explanation but this may take time as they get a huge number of calls etc. some of which are abusive and so they don't always answer requests for information by telephone and so we are likely to have to send an official letter.
