Another meeting was held last night to discuss the planned step 7 league in Cumbria.
It appears at this stage that the Westmorland League sides are not supporting it, with the exception of Keswick and Ambleside. It was even rumoured that the Westmorland League are thinking of applying for Step 7 status themselves.
The league is likely to need at least 16 sides to go ahead. The point was made that this league will be good for the progress of local referees, with many presently travelling to the North East for games.
It is still open for teams from the Furness area to show interest.
It was agreed to push ahead with the proposals to form the league, starting next season. Clearly, there are many obstacles to overcome before then.
