considering the recent weather, and most teams missing loads of games(4 weeks in my case!)thats a fairly decent idea, think the league would have to be a bit more flexible with fixture dates though as lots of players might be on their hols in the summer
Fair point Jay but could play mid week as well to help get games in . It would def make life easier for fixture secretary with no games cancelled . Not sure if workable for older age groups but may work for mini soccer . Got to be a lot more enjoyable for coach/kids and spectators in nicer weather It would also save expense on indoor training facilities through darker nights . Any thoughts ?
I think its a decent idea with the problems maybe just being in holiday time, with people away. There's still this FA rule about no football in June as well which I think still applies.
He's on the rack Waza, he hasn't been seen for 10 days you know, I hope the weather changes soon as he needs to get some miles in, at least 10 a day or he won't last 10 minutes when we get started.
Walks I have sent an enquiry to the Secretary of the County FA for some clarification on the "no play in June" rule, i will post a reply on here when i get one back from him.Yours is a cracking idea, But I doubt the Fuddie duddies at local League level will support it,Just my thoughts.
Yes Loui, maybe a bit harsh, but I'm sure they will understand your train of thought. Most Junior football is non competitive ( Junior being 7 - 18 yrs), so time of year shouldn't matter. As the FA have decided no leagues, no results for U7/8, when they play shouldnt matter. Also, U9/10 & 11 have referees supplied by parents/coaches/managers, so really, the games are all friendlies. A season could be spanned across what is naturally defined good weather months and not have any baring on the competitive fixtures. This in turn will provide more pitches during the traditional season, less heartache for coaches and young players unable to play and at most give a chance to fulfill a fixture schedule that has been provided.
extending the league by a month sounds a decent idea, ive always thought the rule that the the league finishes end of april was daft anyway,i would have to agree that the hard part will be getting the commitee convinced as they are a bit stuck in their ways.
I have recieved a reply from County Secretary Brian will post it on here.Sorry for my Fuddie duddie Crack, i just think that they are too set in their ways and the reply from CFA was not encouraging

An extract from the comments of the County FA secretary are below-
"FA regulations still dictate the types of football that can be played in the Close Season.
"f you can speak to the Longhorn League and gat them to present some figures which can be substantiated on the number of weather affected cancellation over the last 3-4 seasons I would be quite happy to take the issue up with the Rules and Sanctions Committee of the FA.
Just been reading the "News and Star" on line it seems the league are trying to introduce summer football. Not sure how to link the story to this site but I'm sure Brian would be able to manage it. Great idea for the younger players.
I think its worth a serious look at and fair play to the youth league for openly stating they are going to do so. December (and it looks as though January as well) have been write off's more or less. It will be interesting to see the results of the number of call off's etc and whether it gets the go ahead. You could always "pilot" it with some of the very young age groups and introduce it thereafter if it was seen to work.
