Just back in from refereeing Carlisle City under 10s V Carlisle United under 10s at the Sheepmount. Must say I was extremely impressed with the way Carlisle City played. They are a credit to their coaches Mark Boundy and Simon Beck. The game was played in 4 x 15 minutes periods, with the final score ending up 3 1 to United. The boys should be very proud of themselves for the effort they put in and they more than matched the United team throughout the game. Ultimately United had a bigger and stronger squad, and in that they had an extra bit of quality when coming to scoring. which is to be expected when they pick up the best players around Cumbria, but i have no doubt a few of the City lads could hold their own in that team. The way they play and try and do the right things was excellant to watch. Well done lads
Quality Mike !! Could'nt make it to watch your ref skills, but by all accounts you played well too !! Heard they boys enjoyed the game, sorry to have missed it, dont praise the coaches too much !! Mark already think's he is the nxt Sir Alex !!
I was talking to David Wilkes (who as most of you will know is in charge of youth development at CUFC) last year when Mark's team, then U9's, had played the CUFC school of excellence and I think just lost 2-1, maybe it was 1-1, my memory is not what it used to be. He made a point of telling me how well the boys had played and that they were a credit to our Club.
Obviously for David to arrange a second game says even more about these boys and the manager/coach.
I have watched mark's team a couple of times and they are a smashing little outfit, well done to everyone concerned and keep up the good work.
