The County League team travelled to Parton last Saturday expecting a real test of their promotion credentials (Joe Watson - I will explain what that means next time I see you) and came away with a solid 5-0 victory.
Playing against the breeze in the first half Parton attacked strongly from the off. City, and in particulat Bully, had Jordan to thank for a vital save after 10 minutes, when a pass back fell short and the Parton centre forward ran on to it but Jordan saved with his legs. A couple of speculative long rangers didn't really test Jordan and city were looking menacing every time they attacked.
After a couple of efforts fell agonisingly wide, Robin Ward hit a quick brace (both good striker's goals) to put us 2-0 and it stayed that way until half time.
With the wind at their backs in the second half City had lots of the ball but created very little and Parton looked dangerous on the break and two excellent crosses from the right created heading opportunities that were both put wide (IMO they should have scored at least 1 of them).
City then "woke up" and two from Johnno (one a fabulous strike from outside the box) and another from Craig Bell sealed the win.
A good solid, unspectacular, but professional performance, from a team of young lads who are picking things up with every game. They are learning to win "ugly", if you know what I mean.
Special mention to Jam who lead the line very well and on another day would have had a hat trick and Matty Green who marshalled the back line expertly.
