Thought the boys worked hard last night. The most pleasing thing was this was the fist time the have been behing this season and showed their metal on two occassions to react to the opening goal and the equaliser. well done boys
First 25 minutes we played some excellent stuff, kept the ball really well and got ourselves into some great positions, a bit better quality in the final third and we could have been out of sight.
For me this was the best Wark side I have seen and they have some real quality around the park, I particularly like Phil Thompson and Marc Nixon, both good players and a threat to any team at this this level.
In the end I thought we just about deserved it on the balance of play, but with just 1 goal the difference Wark put us under a bit of pressure in the last 10 minutes.
I hate to say this but the game was a great advert for football, lots of good passing and movement, excellent effort and determination from both sides, good goals, mistakes and contraversy, but played in a good spirit.
After our pre season games I told Garry Kirkup at Shankhouse that we will be hard to beat (correct), would not concede many (rubbish) but would not score many (even more rubbish).
Nice to see Wrighty looking so well after his hip replacement, get well soon mate and also Alan Batey who was such a good player for Penrith and Nenthead and a cracking lad too, can't believe you are 45 Alan, you looked like that 20 years ago, must be the waters in haltwhistle!!!!
