City v Hearts of Liddlesdale

Very lethargic first half seen City go 1-0 down right on half time when a good delivery into the box seen the city defence watching each other and the Hearts striker nip in and head a past Jordan English in the City goal.

Manager Paul Henderson introduced Calvin Rowell at half time for Robin Ward (who looked tired after a busy day entertaining the shoppers in the town centre) and he made an immediate impact, equalising with a smart finish after some good play from Griffy and Olly. He proved to be a constant threat and went on to add a further 2 goals, hit the bar and force the keeper into an excellent save in a 1 v 1.

City further introduced substitutes James Hartley (who was full of running and looks a good addition to the side) for Joe Watson and Mark Swindlehirst (could easily make the first team if he could get to training more) for Olly Driver

Watching first team manager Steve Bellas, who was Calvn's manager at under 16 level for 2 years, was seen approaching Hendy shortly after the game, (a) to congratulate him and (b) to tell him Calvin can't play for him this saturday (I wonder where he will be).

Second half the City team were much more energetic and dynamic and deservedly won the game, however saying that, Hearts did hit the bar in the second half and Jordan made an excellent save from a powerful shot from their number 9.

Only real downside was Rushy getting injured near the end, no fault of anyones, just one of those things. We think he may have torn his calf muscle, so depending on how bad, I would expect 6 weeks as a minimum.

Thanks Mark.

To keep the stats up to date, who scored the goal at Cleator Moor Celtic last week?
