The side had a fine 5-0 win at Grasslot last night, including a second hat-trick in successive games from Mark Eagling.

There will be a match report on the site soon.

Well done Eddie Izzard, getting 2 hat tricks on the belt, that's not been seen before, normally you play one, get injured, miss two, play one, get injured ..........

Steve is on the look out for a centre forward, careful if he turns up at a veterans game, you might get the call. One of your fellow players has already had the call, Mr Boots. He said he knew Steve would ring him because he is the best left back in the town, even at 44.

I'm aware there are some nicknames in the scorers list- but I'm not sure of the real names!

Thanks to Willie Armstrong for the excellent reports on the games- he will be able to see even better soon as well.  yawn

Brian,

I talked to Willie today and his eye sight has returned. He said he went to his wardrobe this morning and wondered who's all the 70's gear was, after being told by his wife they were in fact his, he filled 10 charity bags with clothes and set off to Matalan to get some "decent stuff", his words not mine.

Mr Boots is a certain David Bewley, Eddie Izzard is of course the uncompromisable Mr Eagling.

There's also a goalscorer listed as Sandy- I'm not sure who this is.

Another win for the veterans on Monday- they beat Frizington 2-1 at the Sheepmount. They are still in a challenging position to retain their title.

HAVE TO TAKE ISSUE WITH WILLIE "ME HAMSTRINGHURTS" ARMSTRONG ABOUT HIS MATCH REPORT FOR THE ST BEDES GAME. HE DESCRIBES ME AS BEING ON A HAT TRICK OF HEADERS BUT WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THE BALL MERELY BRUSHED MY FRINGE ON THE WAY THROUGH TO IAN "LETTUCEWRISTS" HORNE AND HE SHOULD HAVE HELD IT ANYWAY!!!!! I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO POINT OUT TO THE GAFFER THAT I HAVE SINCE HAD A HAIRCUT TO PREVENT SUCH AN INCIDENT HAPPENING AGAIN!! BRING BACK DOUGIE!!!

Willie

You may need tolook for another goal scoring midfielder as Mr P will be changing nappies for the foreseeable future. Shall I dust the boots off?

Match report up soon, which covers a sporting gesture by one of the City players when he persuaded the ref not to award a goal, when the ball had not crossed the line.
