There seems to be a debate raging as to whether the ground inspection has been passed or not- the Northern League are saying that Gillford have been "conditionally accepted", and appear to be quite grudging in their comments.
In terms of clubs doing this "years ago", it is all down to facilities and the cost involved. Gillford Park has only become available in recent years following the demise of professional rugby league there.
