Under 18's County Cup Semi
Permalink

I watched the game on Sunday and thought both teams were a credit to their respective managers and the Club (apart from one stupid shout of "have some of that" from one lad when it was in fact his own team mate who was injured!!).

There was plenty of players did themselves no harm at all in front of the Alliance team manager. Whilst it was a shame one CCFC team had to lose, on the positive side we have a team in the final. It should be a very good game as Workington are an excellent team.

It was clear that the older team were slightly stronger and probably a bit more organised than the younger team, however, if John and Keith keep this bunch together I am sure they will have a good chance of possibly winning a league/cup double next year.

From a Club perspective if we can keep all these lads and help develop them further in the County and Alliance teams we will be ok.

It will be interesting to see where the final is staged- possibly Penrith, or maybe Gillford Park.

I hope it's GP, not because it's easier for us to get to, more the fact that the pitch is much better and will suit two very good footballing teams.

I see Mike (at GP) has been put forward for groundsman of the year. I have been up there quite a few times in the past couple of seasons and have always been impressed with the condition of the pitch, I hope you win it Mike, good luck.

It was great to watch two good sides play against each other. Both teams have their share of good young players and we want all our good young players coming through and choosing Carlisle City as the team to play for in senior football.

Good Luck to Paul's team in the final

From a quick look at the Workington reports, it seems that most of their squad are under 17s, and I think most of them are also playing in Workington's reserve side.
