This topic still seems to attract some comment in the local area. The Cumberland FA have launched the academy and said that the girls involved cannot play league football. It is now leading to a situation where some teams have not enough players.
Girls football is still developing in our area and it is very apparent from discussions I have had with CCFC managers and coaches (and one or two from other clubs) that the academy is actually becoming detrimental to the girls development.
I understand that the CFA have given a committment to look into letting the girls play for their club sides. If the CFA do not do something about this situation you can see the girls league or the academy folding.
